Little Big City, Berlin

The beginning of this year saw Fusion LX travel abroad to undertake one of our biggest and most impressive jobs to date. The project, created by Merlin Entertainment, is a world’s first and we were thrilled to be asked to be a part of it.

The project, called Little Big City Berlin, is a 3D- miniature world that uses AV, interactivity, sound and projection mapping to create a fully immersive experience. At Fusion LX, we were responsible for making sure that the experience was fully functional and as effective as possible. To do this we had to supply and install several pieces of equipment including 34 laser projectors that had to blend together, 24 directional speakers, 40 high-powered speakers, 7 high-performance PC’s, 10 transparent screens and 20 Brightson media players.

Due to the nature of the attraction, the equipment needs to perform seamlessly all day, every day and so we needed to install high-quality equipment that we were confident could deal with the stress of running all the time. We opted for the Optoma ZU65- and ZH400UST projectors as well as the Sony VPL-FHZ65 and VPL-FHZ60 and the Casio XJ-A257-UJ.

Little Big City Berlin takes visitors on a journey through Berlin’s rich history. Using CGI animation to tell some of the city’s most iconic stories from the bombing of Berlin to the burning of Reichstag. The 3D-installation highlights seven eras that define Berlin, right up to modern day. The finale requires 17 projectors to completely fill the room and bring a scale model of the Brandenburg gate to life.

This project was a great challenge and we always enjoy seeing the final project come to life. We have a passion for AV installation and work tirelessly to ensure that we provide the highest-quality equipment and most innovative solution to create the desired effect.
