At the beginning of 2017, the Fusion LX team headed over to Huddersfield to help in the conversion of three, 19th Century houses into the small but quirky Colne Valley Museum.
The museum, which opened to the public last month, takes a step back in time to look at how the weavers of the 1850’s lived and worked. Visitors follow the lives of weavers, a look at the living rooms and kitchens to how they work. Visitors tour through a clog makers workshop, a handloom chamber, a spinning room and a cropping room. A team of volunteers work hard to keep the museum authentic by demonstrating old techniques, but on days when volunteers are unavailable, Fusion LX installed screens and speakers to deliver the information.
Along with these screens, we installed two subtle speakers and audio players (modern technology isn’t in keeping with an 1850’s lifestyle). These pieces of equipment play background audio clips to really immerse the visitor in the exhibit. We used LED lighting to bring old gas lamps to life, while LED – technology was used to create a flickering stove in the clog workshop.
Our customers and their needs are our priority. Fusion LX is always on hand to provide advice or alterations to any of the projects that we have worked on. Before the museums’ official opening day, we headed back to Huddersfield to ensure that all of the equipment was functioning correctly and to install some updates to the content of the media players.
